Restricted free agent point guard Jasmine Thomas is now off the list of players that might be signed by other teams. The Atlanta Dream has re-signed Thomas to a multi-year contract.
"We are excited to bring another key element of our core nucleus back as Jasmine will continue to play a large role in our endeavor to bring a WNBA Championship to Atlanta in 2015 and beyond," said Dream President and General Manager Angela Taylor. "Coming off a productive season in Turkey, she will continue to provide strong leadership, defensive intensity, and offensive versatility to this veteran team."
Thomas will be entering her fifth season in the league and third with Atlanta. In her two previous seasons with the Dream, she played in all 68 regular-season games, starting 52, while also starting 10 of 11 playoff games.
Thomas, who is currently averaging 12.1 points, 3.7 rebounds and 2.7 assists for Ormanspor of the prestigious Turkish League, averaged 4.8 points, 2.1 rebounds and 1.6 assists per game for the Dream in 2014.
So next year, we know that we have both Thomas and Shoni Schimmel to play point guard. Let the battle for starting point guard begin! (If Celine Dumerc's return is confirmed, then it becomes a Battle Royal!)
