NCAA Women's Tournament Bracket: South Florida Bulls preview

Your intrepid blogger has been one of the many doubters of anyone in the AAC not named UConn, but South Florida's got game.

David Butler II-USA TODAY Sports

Who? The Bulls of South Florida.

Who do they play in the first round? USF will play LSU on Saturday, March 21 at 6:30 p.m. ET.

What? Chosen to compare with Bevo. Rocky started out as a toy idea. (D'awwww.)

Where? Tampa, Florida, host of Wikipedia's server farm (so without Tampa, these cards don't get done).

When? March 21st, in Tampa, Florida.

Why? Strong RPI, impressive record, and the only AAC team not to run away whimpering from UConn.

How? They were an at-large selection.

Surprise? Predicted to finish second in the conference, they finished in second, three games behind UConn.

RPI: 27

SOS: 57

Record: 26-7 (15-3 American)

Good wins: Oklahoma.

Bad losses: At East Carolina.

Who's in charge around here? Jose Fernandez, since 2000, who proves that you can start your college degree at a community college and succeed brilliantly.

Extra, Extra! The Tampa Tribune and The Tampa Bay Times. I have heard rumors of a mysterious Voodoo Five who speak wisdom of South Florida.

A pair of junior forwards lead the charge for the Bulls. South Florida's only double-figure scorers are Courtney Williams (20.2 points, 3.2 assists) and Alisia Jenkins (12.9 points, team-high 11.6 rebounds).
