Who? The Terriers of St. Francis College (or St. Francis of Brooklyn, however you prefer to differentiate them from their cohorts in Loretto- they prefer St. Francis of Brooklyn or St. Francis of New York).
When do they play in the first round? The Terriers will play UConn on Saturday, March 21 at 9 p.m. ET.
What? The site doesn't seem to have any background on the team name, but it seems appropriate for a team from Brooklyn to be named after a tenacious dog.
Where? Brooklyn Heights, New York, in the shadow of the Brooklyn Bridge.
Why? They won the Northeast conference tournament.
How? Sarah Benedetti would not be denied, coming up with 29 points and nine rebounds to help St. Francis go to their first tournament in school history with a 77-62 win over Robert Morris.
Surprise? Predicted to finish third in the conference, they finished in fifth, five games back of Bryant and Central Connecticut State.
RPI: 250
SOS: 299
Record: 15-18 (9-9 NEC)
Good wins: Stony Brook.
Bad losses: At NJIT.
Who's in charge around here? John Thurston, since 2012; he was an assistant there previously.
The Terriers feature four double-figure scorers... and then that's pretty much it, as fifth-leading scorer Katie Fox averages just under four points per game. Senior forward Jaymee Veney leads the way with 14.8 points and 8.0 rebounds. She's a powerhouse with dubious shot selection. Seniors Sarah Benedetti and Eilidh Simpson, and junior Leah Fechko, round out the scoring for the Terriers.
