NCAA Women's Tournament Bracket: Arkansas-Little Rock Trojans preview

Tested and tried, the Trojans are ready for the tournament.

Who? The Trojans of Arkansas-Little Rock. I've seen it as UALR and heard it as Little Rock.

When do they play in the first round? They play Texas A&M on Saturday, March 21 at 4 p.m. ET.

What? The Trojan has no name. The Trojan needs no name.

Where? Little Rock, Arkansas, title of two country songs on my iPod.

Why? They won the Sun Belt conference tournament.

How? Taylor Gault poured in 21 points, Alexius Dawn added 17 points and five steals, and UALR survived a nip-and-tuck game with in-state rivals Arkansas State, 78-72. Aundrea Gamble had 27 points in the losing cause.

Surprise? Predicted to finish second in the conference, they finished first, two games ahead of Arkansas State.

Record: 28-4 (18-2 Sun Belt)

Good wins: Oklahoma. At LSU.

Bad losses: At Troy.

Senior guard Taylor Gault is the star of the show for the Trojans, at 15.3 points per game. Junior forward Shanity James adds 11.3 points on 51% shooting and a team-high 7.3 rebounds. The Trojans have been able to pick their opponents' pockets well this year, averaging about 8.5 steals.
