There was no movement near the top of our third installment of the Swish Appeal Prep Poll of Polls with strong consensus through #14 and then widely differing opinion as to who belongs in the remainder of the slots. Four new schools joined the list in this week's edition, all below #20.
Current state of affairs
Mater Dei High School of Santa Ana, California, and Neumann-Goretti High School of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, continue locked at the top each with 98 of the possible 100 points and both schools receiving two first place votes. This has been the case since our original prep poll of polls in January.
Quiet before the storm
In the period after the various, often strong, January weekend showcase events until state playoffs get started (which is now happening in some states), there is usually little movement. Typical of most years in this period, the better teams mostly feast on weaker local opposition awaiting stronger post-season competition. Look for some significant shake-ups in our next edition and even more in the one after that.
The four national polls (links below) were reviewed and 25 points assigned to the team ranked first down to one point for a team ranked 25th. Then the points were added up (maximum score 100) to create the ranking order.
