Estero, FL -- The Cardinals seek to avenge their Sweet Sixteen loss as they take on the Dayton Flyers for third place in the Gulf Coast Showcase.

The last time the Cardinals and the Flyers met, it was Dayton who emerged victorious. The Flyers held the Cardinals to 31.5% shooting from the field. Andrea Hoover, now graduated, led the Flyers with 26 points and five boards.

Hoover shot a perfect 15-15 from the free throw line, setting a new NCAA Tournament record. Amber Deane, Jodie Cornelie-Sigmundova and Kelley Austria, now seniors, put up 15, 12 and 10 points respectively. The seventh-seeded Flyers upset the Cardinals, 82-66, and advanced to the NCAA Regional Semifinal for the first time in school history. While the Cardinals continue to battle youth, the Flyers return ten players from the 2014-2015 season.

The Cardinals battled Marist in the first round of the Gulf Coast Showcase. Clinching the first win of the season, the Cardinals defeated the Red Foxes, 65-53. However, the Cardinals fell to Purdue, 62-60, in the second game.

In the two games, it was Myisha Hines-Allen who stole the show for the Cardinals. Hines-Allen posted 18 points, six rebounds and three steals against Marist. Hines-Allen's streak continued against Purdue as she put up 16 points, grabbed eight boards and one steal.
