After a slow start in their first game, Team Canada must look to rebound against an up and coming rising FIBA world team in Turkey. This is one of Team Canada's first true tests of the tournament: Turkey won against a top FIBA team in France just yesterday and have all the momentum plus the support of the home crowd on their side.
Just by looking at their roster, they have some size advantages over Team Canada. Team Canada has to make sure they are able to adjust otherwise they will allow Turkey to come away with an easy win. Listed below are some things to watch for from Team Canada's side.
THINGS TO WATCH FOR:
- Defense: Can Team Canada contain Turkey and it's immense size inside? Will they be able to make Turkey work harder on offense?
- X factor: Usually, when a team needs to win a big or much needed game, a player who hasn't had as much of an impact, plays well. Who will be that player for Team Canada? Who will step up?
- Start: How Team Canada starts the game should be worth keeping an eye on. They could get away with Mozambique leading early in the 1st Q, but that won't work against Turkey. If they let Turkey play well early, that could be dangerous as Turkey might just keep the lead and win the game.
The game will tip off at noon EST. You can watch the game live on NBATV Canada, ESPN3 and online through the FIBA's website.
