With the 2014 WNBA Playoffs getting underway this week, University of San Francisco head coach Jennifer Azzi and assistant coach Shanele Stires offered some of their thoughts from the perspective of former players of two of the teams involved.

Azzi, still the WNBA's all-time leader in career 3-point percentage, started for the original San Antonio Stars team that relocated from Utah back in 2003 in her final season in the WNBA. Stires played for the Minnesota Lynx for three seasons from 2000-2002.

Azzi shared her thoughts on seeing her former franchises continued success as well as the groundbreaking success of future San Antonio Spurs assistant coach Becky Hammon. Stires wondered who from the Eastern Conference could challenge the Lynx or Phoenix Mercury in the WNBA Finals and chose the Atlanta Dream and Indiana Fever as the top two contenders. Both shared how their experience in the WNBA shaped their current lives on and off the court.
