Last night, the Chicago Sky defeated the New York Liberty, but they did so without the services of their franchise player.
Before the game, the team announced in a press release that the sophomore forward would be out indefinitely due to her Lyme Disease. She has traveled back to her home in Delaware for treatment.
Delle Donne played the Sky's first eight games where they went 5-3 during that time. But from June 10 through June 22, she missed five straight games due to the flare up. During that time, Chicago went 1-4. Delle Donne returned on June 25 to play against the Connecticut Sun where she scored 13 points in limited minutes.
This is definitely tough for Chicago. And the Lyme Disease flare-up was bigger than we originally thought. Definitely hope that Delle Donne has a quick and speedy recovery.
