We had ten ties and seven lead changes in this contest. However, despite a game where the Chicago Sky shot a higher percentage and made more assists, they lost to the Indiana Fever, 83-75. Chicago lost thanks to being outrebounded, 36-26, and not going to the free throw line enough. The Sky only made 7-of-16 shots at the free throw line while the Fever made 28-of-35.
The deciding factor in this game was when the Fever had a 10-4 run from 4:11 to 29 seconds left in the game after a 69-all tie. The first four of these points were solely from free throws. First, Shavonte Zellous made a pair. Then Karima Christmas made two more. Then after a Sky turnover, Briann January made a mid range shot to give the Fever a quick 75-69 lead.
Though the Sky answered with four straight points of their own, Zellous had a nice give and go from an inbounds play with Erlana Larkins. That made the score 79-73, and it sealed the deal from there.
No one player dominated as a scorer for the Fever, but Erlana Larkins was the player of the night where she scored 13 points, grabbed 11 rebounds, and dished five assists. For the Sky, Epiphanny Prince led all scorers with 18 points on 8-of-16 shooting.
This is definitely a great effort tonight by the Fever and it now puts them in second place for the Eastern Conference. For the Sky, it is looking clear that this team is not going to be doing much damage without Sylvia Fowles and Elena Delle Donne, who missed her third straight game due to a flare-up of her Lyme Disease.
