Washington Mystics waive Kody Burke and Artemis Spanou

One of the tough parts about the preseason is that cuts can happen, even after game day. That is what happened as Kody Burke and Artemis Spanou were waived earlier Wednesday.

Considering that neither player played over six minutes during Wednesday's win over the Indiana Fever, this does not come as a total surprise, at least when you look at the total number of minutes they played.

Additionally, Kia Vaughn has reported to training camp and will begin practicing with the team Thursday, so these cuts were also likely made to accommodate Vaughn, who figures to have a good chance to start at the center position on opening day.
