Angelo Di Carlo of South Bend's News Center 16 conducted an interview with senior Kayla McBride that captured the emotion of a disappointing loss for Notre Dame in the national championship.
McBride rushed off the court, almost crashing into scaffolding that was being brought onto the floor for UConn's postgame celebration. As she headed to the locker room, McBride had tears flowing...McBride will go down as one of the all-time greats in Notre Dame women's basketball history. She left it all on the line on the court and she handled herself so well time and time again. In the end, she wore her emotions on her sleeves and showed the world that Notre Dame means everything to her.
McBride did score a game-high-tying 21 points in the title game, but was just 8-for-18 and had four turnovers leaving her thinking that she could have done more.
