Washington Mystics acquire Bria Hartley and Tianna Hawkins from the Seattle Storm in exchange for Crystal Langhorne

The Washington Mystics have acquired rookie guard Bria Hartley, the 7th pick in the 2014 WNBA Draft and sophomore forward Tianna Hawkins from the Seattle Storm in exchange for veteran All-Star forward Crystal Langhorne in a draft-day deal.

Another big trade for the Mystics and the Storm.

For the Mystics, they have made a deal to acquire two younger players. Hartley is a player who has provided steady perimeter play over her college career. The bigger story is that Hartley will be reunited, or continue to play alongside rookie center Stefanie Dolosn, who the Mystics selected sixth overall. Both Hartley and Dolson played alongside each other at UConn during their college careers.

Hawkins is a post player who had a stellar senior season at Maryland in 2012-2013 and was someone who could have made sense for Washington at the number four pick in the 2013 Draft, but they selected Tayler Hill instead to bolster their guard rotation.

For the Seattle Storm, with Lauren Jackson out for the year, the team felt the need to replace her scoring ability with a veteran presence. With better perimeter players around the newly-acquired Langhorne, such as Sue Bird, she should have more room to operate in the post than she did in the nation's capital, and also bringing her to the Emerald City should ensure that the Storm is back in the playoffs for 2014, and possibly beyond.
