Dance Card: Robert Morris, NEC

Appropriate, to be led by someone named for a goddess of the hunt.

Who? The Colonials of Robert Morris.

What? The name reflects Pennsylvania's history; the mascot's name, RoMo, references neither a closer nor a quarterback, but the name of the school. (RMU, Y U NO post info about your mascot?)

Where? Moon Township, Pennsylvania, which had several townships spun off it.

When? March 16th, in Moon Township, Pennsylvania.

Why? They won the Northeast conference tournament.

How? Artemis Spanou almost single-handedly willed her team to victory, with 30 points, 20 rebounds, and six assists, and the Colonials held home court against St. Francis, 78-64.

Surprise? Predicted to finish first in the conference, they took the regular season title and the homecourt that came with it.

RPI: 182

SOS: 306

Record: 21-11 (14-4 NEC)

Good wins: Coppin State. I guess.

Bad losses: Northern Kentucky. Never a good sign to lose a team so new to D-I they can't play in their conference tournament.

Who's driving this thing? Sal Buscaglia, since 2003. He's making coaching a family business.

Extra, Extra! The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette.

It's a Greek connection for the Colonials. Senior forward Artemis Spanou is a powerhouse in the middle, averaging 19.5 points and 14.6 rebounds per game. Freshman Anna Niki Stamolamprou chips in 12.3 points, while freshman center Cassie Oursler makes space down low with 7.5 points, 5.1 rebounds, and a team-high 49 blocks on the season.
