Dance Card: Wright State, Horizon

What's that on the horizon? The Raiders are coming!

Who? The Raiders of Wright State.

What? Supposedly the colors came from Green Bay and the name came from Oakland. I presume the wolf's name is Rowdy from the "Team Rowdy" link.

Where? Fairborn, Ohio, home to Calamityville. (You would think Wright, right? It's named for the Wright brothers, not a location.)

When? March 16th, in Green Bay, Wisconsin.

Why? They won the Horizon League tournament.

How? Tay'ler Mingo had a game-high 31 points for the Raiders as Wright State went up to Wisconsin and knocked out Green Bay, 88-69. Kim Demmings shook off first-half foul trouble to pour in 22 of her 26 points in the second half.

Surprise? Predicted to finish second in the conference, they ended up in second.

RPI: 106

SOS: 238

Record: 26-8 (12-4 Horizon)

Good wins: North Carolina State in the Gulf Coast Showcase.

Bad losses: Swept by Cleveland State.

Who's driving this thing? Mike Bradbury, since 2010. He's been an assistant at both Xavier and Cincinnati. Doesn't that, like, make you explode or something?

Extra, Extra! The Dayton Daily News.

Junior guard Kim Demmings leads the raid for Wright State, with 22.6 points per game. Senior Ivory James chips in 17.3, and junior guard Tay'ler Mingo adds 14.7 points and 4.4 assists. Wright State's a high-scoring squad, with 83.9 points per game.
