Dance Card: Army, Patriot

A triumphant return.

Who? The Black Knights of Army.

What? Not sure why they went with Black Knights, but here's some info about the Army mules.

Where? West Point, New York, which wasn't turned over to the British.

When? March 15th, in West Point.

Why? They won the Patriot League tournament.

How? Kelsey Minato erupted for 31 points, and Army stopped upset-minded Holy Cross in their tracks, 68-58 to go to their first tournament since Maggie Dixon's 2006 squad.

Surprise? Predicted to finish second in the conference, they ended up in second.

RPI: 60

SOS: 171

Record: 25-7 (14-4 Patriot)

Good wins: At Stony Brook? I am not inspired by this schedule.

Bad losses: At Colgate. Also, I think the game at Navy was the star game, and no matter the standings, Army will not be having with losing that game.

Who's driving this thing? Dave Magarity, since 2006. A former men's coach at Marist.

Extra, Extra! The Times Herald-Record.

Sophomore Kelsey Minato is the scoring spark for the Black Knights, with 21.8 points per game. She gets to the line- over 200 attempts on the season- and hits them at a 92.7% rate. Senior forward Jen Hazlett adds 13.8 points and 7.6 rebounds per game. Giving Minato space is a bad idea, no matter how many times Holy Cross did it.
