NCAA approves Daisha Simmons' waiver to play in the 2014-15 season

After an extended battle with Alabama, the NCAA has cleared Daisha Simmons to play for Seton Hall in the 2014-15 season.

The NCAA did the right thing today in announcing their approval of Simmons' legislative waiver. It's been a long journey for Simmons, but today she got what she had desired for so long: her right to finish her athletic career immediately, all while pursuing an MBA close to her ailing family.

"I'm thrilled that the NCAA has granted Daisha Simmons immediate eligibility," Seton Hall coach Tony Bozzella told Swish Appeal. "I'm happy for Daisha and her family that the NCAA has granted it for her. We are appreciative of Alabama and NCAA choosing to do the right thing in this process."

It's a great day for Simmons and her family, she gets to play the sport she loves, work towards getting her MBA, be near her ailing brother, Chaz and truly fulfill the true purpose of what it means to be a "student-athlete."

Now instead of #FreeDaishaSimmons, it's #DaishaSimmonsIsFree.
