Sparks Watch Day 28: Thoughts from Larry Burnett

Larry Burnett, the Time Warner Cable play-by-play announcer for the Sparks, blog about the Sparks situation.

There hasn't been a lot of information - from anyone - about the progress towards keeping the Los Angeles Sparks in Los Angeles or moving them to San Francisco. But someone associated with the Sparks organization has finally talked.

In this case, it's Larry Burnett, the Time Warner Cable play-by-play announcer for the Los Angeles Sparks. He posts about the Sparks at his blog site.

Some excerpts from the linked blog entry:

I've had a lot of Sparks' fans contact me with questions about what is / is not happening with their WNBA team.... They, as I, are perplexed at the total lack of information emanating from the WNBA's executive offices.

...

In fact most of the people that I talked with, who were part of the team or close to the team, are looking for answers to the same questions.

...

Finally, this week, sources have told me that there is more than one local ownership group that is interested in buying the Sparks and keeping the team in Los Angeles.

...

I expect the WNBA to make an announcement, within the next week, about the status of the L.A. Sparks.

The most intriguing news is the claim that there might be more than one ownership group interested in keeping the Sparks in Los Angeles. That was certainly news to me! The entire blog is worth reading, and Burnett emphasizes that he is operating on minimal information. Even so, his minimal information is 100 percent more information than we've gotten from the WNBA.

And the arbitrary deadline for the Warriors to buy the Sparks is at T MINUS FOUR DAYS....

The most interesting tidbit is that there might be more than one ownership group looking to keep the Sparks in Los Angeles. Wishful thinking, or inside information? Post your opinions in the comments below.
