The six college players who were in camp in Vegas all made it; marking the most since 1996 in the pool

USA Basketball has announced its 33-player 2014-16 pool for the Women's National Team, which features the most college players since 1996.
UConn's Stefanie Dolson, Kaleena Mosqueda-Lewis and Breanna Stewart, Notre Dame's Kayla McBride, Baylor's Odyssey Sims, and Maryland's Alyssa Thomas all made the team along with a familiar set of women's basketball veterans.
Noticeably absent from the list is Stanford's Chiney Ogwumike, who declined to attend the mini-camp in Las Vegas back in October. However, the USA Basketball release leaves open the possibility of that changing by stating, "The USA National Team pool will be fluid, and athletes may be added at any time by the USA Basketball Women's National Team Player Selection Committee."

Nevertheless, the decision to include six college players reflects an emphasis on developing talent for the future with a number of the players on the list presumably closer to the end of their careers than the beginning. For Dolson, McBride, Sims, and Thomas, it's also an endorsement of their potential to contribute among the best in the world at the WNBA level.
