Open Thread: DC and Phoenix go for first round playoff sweeps tonight, starting at 7:00 PM ET on NBA TV

The Mystics and Mercury will try to punch tickets for the Conference Finals in Game 2 of their Conference Semifinal matches tonight. Watch it all on NBA TV or LiveAccess unless you are in the DC area.

#2 Atlanta Dream at #3 Washington Mystics in Game 2 of the Eastern Conference Semifinals, 7:00 PM ET, DC Leads 1-0

The Random SB Nation Song of the Day: Here's a song that's All-American to a fault and is a hit on the Billboard charts. So here's Bonnie McKee with "American Girl."

If you are in the DC area, you must watch online through Monumental Network on new media via your computer or iOS device.

The Mystics host this game after drawing first blood on the road. I still believe this is a three game series on paper. But if the Mystics are in the Eastern Conference Finals this year, then they MUST win this game.

Nothing more to add besides hyperbole, and I'm curious to see if this team can actually pull off the first round series win. I'll be honest. I want the Mystics to win this game. After playing the way they have this season given the circumstances and starting off the playoffs with a win, they have to finish tonight, and I think that they will.

Also, Mike Thibault's the Coach of the Year! This video snippet below from the team's Instagram page convinced any voters on the fence why he deserved the honor.

#2 Los Angeles Sparks at #3 Phoenix Mercury in Game 2 of the Western Conference Semifinals, 10:00 PM ET

The Mercury is one win away from going to the Conference Finals after a season that was mediocre for much of the first half of this season. Is it too soon to speculate if this team is once again the favorite to win it all? I still think that Tayler Hill's hometown team is the favorite, but you all know how good my predictions are!

That's all I have here. So enjoy commenting on the games here and laughing at the songs that must be on my iTunes. I mean iTunes Radio now that iOS 7 is out.
