Angel McCoughtry led the way with 29 points as the Atlanta Dream won against the defending champion Indiana Fever 86-77. A 25-14 third quarter in Atlanta's favor was a major factor along with a 36-29 rebounding advantage that held the Dream win this game. In addition, Sancho Lyttle provided 11 points, 11 rebounds, 3 assists, and 3 steals. Alex Bentley had 10 points and 6 assists off the bench, and Jasmine Thomas had 15 points on 7-11 shooting.
For the Fever, Tamika Catchings played a Tamika Catchings game with 20 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists. Katie Douglas added 17 points. Something that should be disappointing by the Fever was that the team only had 2 points from the four bench players, all from Karima Christmas, and the four bench players in this game only combined for three shot attempts with two rebounds and two steals.
And yes, we were all disappointed that Fever rookie Layshia Clarendon didn't get to play much in her regular season debut.
Atlanta heads to Washington to finish its two game road trip to play the Washington Mystics, and the Fever will have another decent break before heading off to play at New York this Wednesday.
