Two preseason games today: Tulsa goes to LA; Phoenix hosts Team Japan; NBA Western Conference Finals between the Grizzlies and Spurs begin

Two more games this afternoon. None on national TV. But the NBA Western Conference Finals are.

At 3 PM Eastern or Noon Pacific, the Tulsa Shock without Skylar Diggins (due to Notre Dame's commencement) faces Candace Parker and the LA Sparks to hopefully get that first win of the preseason.

After that at 6:00 PM. Brittney Griner makes her debut in a Mercury jersey as they face the Japan National Team at 6:00 PM. Like the Dream's and Mystics' matches vs. the Brazil National Team last week, I don't expect this game to be more than just a tune up for the Mercury.

And there's more!

The NBA Western Conference Finals also begin today with the 5th seeded Memphis Grizzlies playing the 2nd seeded San Antonio Spurs. The Grizzlies are in their first ever Conference Finals appearance after beating the Oklahoma City Thunder four games to one, which definitely came from the fact that Russell Westbrook suffered a knee injury in the first round vs. the Houston Rockets. And the Spurs defeated the Golden State Warriors, four games to two. Golden State just happened to be the final "large market team" in the Western Conference playoffs.

In fact, including the Eastern Conference Finals' teams which are the Miami Heat and the Indiana Pacers, three of the four teams left in the NBA Playoffs are not in "large market" metro areas.

You can watch this game at 3:30 PM on ABC. There is also an open thread for the entire SB Nation network. Today, our SBN partners at Sonics Rising, the Seattle SuperSonics fansite are hosting it and we encourage you to go there to chime in with other basketball fans throughout the Association. The NBA Playoff open threads are cycling across each of the 33 blogs in the SB Nation NBA family so you all know.

Unless you're headed to the WNBA games personally, enjoy "box score surfing!" and watching the NBA's Western Conference Finals!
