Chicago Sky waive Serbian forward Sonja Petrovic to reduce roster to 12 players

The Chicago Sky have announced the release of forward Sonja Petrovic today, who played 30 games for the team last year.

By waiving Petrovic, the Sky have their roster down to 12 players.

A little more on her background from the release:

Petrovic averaged 4.8 points (35% FG), 2.3 rebounds and one assist per game during the 2012 WNBA season. She had a season high 13 points against the Minnesota Lynx on June 23.

She was selected 26 overall by the San Antonio Silver Stars at the 2009 WNBA Draft. In March 2012, the Sky acquired Petrovic via trade from San Antonio for a 2013 second round draft pick.

A major problem for her last year, as you can see from her numbers at Basketball-Reference.com, was a high turnover rate which happened to be a major weakness for the entire team.
