During halftime of the Atlanta Dream's 97-47 win over Brazil last night, James Bowman wondered aloud in his live blog about who would be left off the final 11-player roster for this season.
7:58 PM: End of first half. Dream up 41-26. A friend of mine are trying to figure out the final eleven. Someone has to go home. But who? Clements? Kraayeveld? Swanier? I expect it won't be Bentley or Thomas.
The Dream have answered part of that today by waiving Blanche Alverson and Ketia Swanier, per a team release.
Last season with the Dream, Swanier wasn't particularly efficient as a distributor or scorer behind starter Lindsey Harding, including a career-low 16.7% 3-point percentage. But waiving Swanier assures that the Dream will be relying on young point guards to run their offense this year, whether that be Alex Bentley, Sydney Carter, or Jasmine Thomas.
And based on their current roster size, one of those three would still be logical to released.
