Dance Card: Georgia, SEC at-large

Good Dawgs or bad Dawgs?

USA TODAY Sports

Who? The Bulldogs of Georgia.

What? They derive their name from the Bulldogs of Yale. Uga is the live mascot; Hairy Dawg is the one in the costume.

Where? Athens, Georgia. Athens does seem like a logical name for a college town.

When? March 23rd, in Spokane, Washington.

Why? Good RPI, good overall record.

How? They were an at-large selection.

Surprise? Predicted to finish second in the conference, they ended up in third.

RPI: 17

SOS: 57

Record: 25-6 (12-4 SEC) (No, Georgia, you cannot count losing by 22 in the conference tournament as a tie.)

Good wins: At Kentucky.

Bad losses: At Mississippi State.

Who's running this show? Andy Landers, since 1979, and he's shaped the administration at Georgia.

Extra, Extra! The Atlanta Journal-Constitution.

Georgia is led by a pair of Jasmines, senior forward Jasmine Hassell (12.9 points, 6.5 rebounds, 54.3% from the floor) and senior guard Jasmine James (10.9 points, 3.7 assists). If they can get Anne Marie Armstrong going again, they might make some noise in Spokane, but the matchups don't favor them.
