Dance Card: Nebraska, Big Ten at-large

What to expect from the Huskers?

Mike Carter-US PRESSWIRE

Who? The Cornhuskers of Nebraska.

What? Initially, Cornhuskers referred to Nebraska beating Iowa- and Iowa was the team being referred to as Cornhuskers. Herbie Husker recently ditched his overalls.

Where? Lincoln, Nebraska, founded as Lancaster.

When? March 23rd, in College Station, Texas.

Why? All the factors are solid. The seed's a touch low, though.

How? They were an at-large selection.

Surprise? Predicted to finish second in the conference by both the coaches and the media, they ended up in second, two games behind Penn State.

RPI: 18

SOS: 15

Record: 23-8 (12-4 Big Ten)

Good wins: Florida State.

Bad losses: At South Dakota State.

Who's running this show? Connie Yori, since 2002. She's been coach of the year in two different conferences.

Extra, Extra! The Journal-Star.

Most coaches would love to have the dilemma that Connie Yori has been faced with this season- after all, how could having two top-notch point guards be a problem? But trying to put both senior Lindsey Moore and freshman Rachel Theriot on the floor at the same time means that one of them has to play off the ball. It's mostly been Moore, who's averaging 15.1 points to go with 5.5 assists. Aptly named junior forward Jordan Hooper leads the way with 18.0 points and 8.7 rebounds, along with a nice 81.3% free throw percentage.

A good sign for the Huskers: their three top scorers (Hooper, Moore, and sophomore Emily Cady) all shoot 80%+ from the line and get there with some frequency.
