Dance Card: Prairie View, SWAC champions

It wasn't ALL Cynthia Cooper after all.

Who? The Lady Panthers of Prairie View A&M.

What? It appears to look something like this, but assiduous Googling has produced nothing.

Where? Prairie View, Texas, in southeastern Texas.

When? March 16th, in Garland, Texas.

Why? They won the Southwestern Athletic Conference tournament.

How? Kiara Etienne had 28 points and Larissa Scott scored 24 before fouling out, as Prairie View survived quadruple overtime against Mississippi Valley State, 97-87.

Surprise? Predicted to finish first in the conference, they ended up in fourth.

RPI: 999

SOS: 999

Record: 17-14 (11-7)

Good wins: Hampton.

Bad losses: At Jackson State.

Who's running this show? Toyelle Wilson, since 2010. She's a Manhattan alumna.

Extra, Extra! The Houston Chronicle.

Senior guard Latia Williams leads the Panthers with 12.9 points and 8.9 rebounds. Her classmate Kiara Etienne adds 10.6 and can get hot in a hurry. The turnover numbers are a bit disturbing, though, as is Williams's 49.5% free throw percentage.
