Latta comes to DC from Tulsa where she averaged over 14 points and 3 assists a game and led the Shock in scoring. She made 39% of her three point shots (69-177) and was fifth in the league in threes made. With her signing, Latta appears to be the starting point guard for the Mystics unlike in Tulsa where she came off the bench in nearly half of their games.
For the Shock, point guard was a position of strength, but it also raises the urgency level for them to re-sign Temeka Johnson who was the team's leader in assists. But for the Mystics, this is a good free agent signing because Latta helps shore up their needs at the guard position and from the three point line, both higher priority areas for the Mystics in this offseason.
