Janel McCarville could miss Game One of 2013 WNBA Finals with sore back

Kent Youngblood of the Star Tribune is reporting that Minnesota Lynx center Janel McCarville might be forced to miss Game One of the WNBA Finals today with a sore back, which could be a significant setback.

McCarville missed two games in early August with a concussion, and the Lynx lost both games. Indeed, those two games were the start of the team’s most difficult stretch this season. The team lost two of three even after McCarville returned before turning a corner. The Lynx are 12-1 since that time, including playoffs.

Youngblood also reported that the Lynx will likely start 6-foot-2 Devereaux Peters in place of 6-foot-2 McCarville. But regardless of who steps in, the already undersized Lynx would be short-handed in trying to contain 6-foot-5 Atlanta Dream center Erika de Souza.
