A Collection of Silver Stars Links During the Olympic Break

The Silver Stars are most noted for having their star guard Becky Hammon star for Russia in the Olympics. But here are some links regarding the hottest team in the league heading into the break.

Links from the team both basketball and community outreach oriented:

Dan Hughes gives an interview in regards to the fact that he is happy that his players get to rest for the break, and also that he will be in London too to watch some of the medal round basketball games. (watch here)

Here's a photo record chronicling the Star's 9 game winning streak (look here)

Coach Hughes, Shameka Christon, and Tully Bevilaqua were in the Antioch Sports Complex and hosted a camp for the NBA's Dribble to Stop Diabetes Campaign. (video here | pics here)

On a later date at the same center, Tangela Smith and Ziomara Morrison were there to hand out school supplies to children (video here | pics here)

Jayne Appel visited a group of kids who were part of Team Up Challenge's Destination Imagination team. Team Up Challenge is a childrens' service learning program of Spurs Sports & Entertainment. (video here | pics here)

I unfortunately couldn't find too many pressers on the Stars that didn't involve Becky for Russia, so here are the two I found most noteworthy.

The Stars certainly finished their pre-Olympic break schedule on a high note. In the Stars' last Olympic season in 2008, they made the Finals. It could happen again this time too. (from the San Antonio News Express)

ESPN's Mechelle Voepel also praises the Stars' performance and makes a big note that Becky Hammon is still a peak performer at the age of 35. It is also an article that hits every team at least a little bit. (read here)

Got more links? Post them. Becky, Sophia and Company are certainly anxious to continue their 2012 campaign and bring a ship to the Alamo!
