The San Antonio Silver Stars have announced the signing of veteran point guard Loree Moore, who hasn't played in the WNBA in a couple of seasons but has been playing abroad for Russia’s Chevakata as described in the release.
A native of Carson, Calif., Moore is currently playing with Russia's Chevakata where she is averaging 3.7 points, 6.9 rebounds, 4.0 assists and 2.0 steals per game through 14 Russian League games and 3.7 points, 5.5 rebounds, 3.8 steals and 2.1 assists through 10 EuroCup games this season. Moore has also played internationally in Turkey.
As she hasn't played in the WNBA since 2009, some of what I wrote about her when the Seattle Storm signed her prior to the 2010 season might apply here as well: Moore will be in a very different role with the Silver Stars than she was when we last saw her with the Liberty and, if she remains healthy, could provide a defensive presence off the bench.
One question mark: the Silver Stars have a lot of perimeter players on the roster.
