Who? The Bulldogs of Fresno State.
What? Oh, this is just adorable. And this is cool too.
Where? Fresno, California, home of the first modern landfill.
When? March 10th, at the Orleans Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Why? They won the Western Athletic Conference tournament.
How? The Bulldogs fired away from deep and buried 15 3-pointers to throttle Louisiana Tech 89-61. Rosie Moult led the way with 23 points, one of four Bulldogs in double figures.
Surprise? Louisiana Tech was the favorite in both of the WAC's polls, with Fresno expected to finish second or third, but the Bulldogs took the conference by two games over Utah State in the regular season.
RPI (as of 3/10: 63
SOS (as of 3/10) 253
Record: 28-5 (13-1 Western Athletic)
Good wins: Oklahoma
Bad losses: at San Jose State
Who's running this show? Adrian Wiggins, since 2005. He started as the interim coach.
Fresno State loves the three-ball- third in the country in makes, though fortieth in percentage- they put up 28 per game. Junior Rosie Moult leads the way in that regard, having hoisted 255 of them and nailed 91. Sophomore guard Ki-Ki Moore puts up 16.6 points per game and pulls down 7.2 rebounds. With a negative rebounding margin and their most frequent free throw shooters only hitting in the sixties, they're going to need their threes to be dropping to have a chance in the tournament.
