Not only did the San Francisco Dons beat the UC Davis Aggies for the first time since December 2007, but they also moved to 2-0 for the first time since 1998.
Although it was a sloppy game - the two teams combined for 45 turnovers - it was also evidence that third-year coach Jennifer Azzi is making her imprint on a program that hasn't seen much success in recent years, as described by freshman Taylor Proctor in the recap at the school website.
"We're relentless, that's for sure. We have no fear," Proctor said after her team-high 18 points in 38 minutes on the court. "We're going to come out hard every single game. Defense wins games. That's what we've been working on day in and day out in practice. That's the one thing that we're always going to be working on, no matter what."
Today the Dons will try advance to 3-0 as they play their first game of the 2012-13 campaign on the road against the Cal State - Fullerton Titans at 2 p.m. PST.
