In what has to go down as one of the most pivotal moments in Georgia Tech women’s basketball history; the Yellow Jackets pulled off a recruiting coup in landing the nation’s #2 prospect -- Kaela Davis. Davis undoubtedly is the most significant recruit of not only Machelle Joseph’s career but Georgia Tech’s as well.
As we stated last night, there were strong rumors indicating that Davis was leaning heavily towards the Yellow Jackets. Today, the Buford superstar made it official with her pledge that she will don the Gold and Blue for the next four years.
The Yellow Jackets have become a very formidable force in the ACC for the past few years, but one could see that they were just an elite recruit away from taking that next step. By them securing Davis’ commitment -- to go alongside with one of the nation’s top recruiting classes for 2012, Georgia Tech has put themselves in position to be the in the upper echelon of the ACC for years to come.
There’s always a moment in which a team sends a resounding message to the rest of college basketball that they have arrived; Georgia Tech just sent their message loud and clear.
More details to come later.
