Sunday WNBA Open Thread, Western Conference Finals Heads to LA at 3:30 PM EDT on ABC

The Minnesota Lynx drew first blood against the LA Sparks last Thursday, winning 94-77 at Target Center. Today, the Sparks look to avoid elimination and extend their season for one more game. The game will be on at 3:30 PM EDT on ABC (that's right, it won't be on cable TV), and once again, you may have conflicting sports interests with NFL football and the MLB Divisional Playoffs which will happen simultaneously with this game. But we still are a few weeks away from the midpoint of the NFL season, and today's MLB playoff games are only the first games of those playoff series, so basketball it is!

Game Preview | Lynx Preview

One of the most notable heroes for Minnesota in the playoffs has been Rebekkah Brunson, who has averaged 16 points and 11 rebounds so far in the playoffs, well above her regular season averages. She scored 14 points and grabbed 10 rebounds in Thursday's game. In addition, four of the five Lynx startes scored at least 10 points, headlined by Maya Moore's 20 points, but she also added 5 rebounds and 5 assists.

For the Sparks, Candace Parker led in points, rebounds, and assists, which is nice and often to be expected from her, but only Alana Beard and Kristi Toliver also scored in double figures. There must be a more even distribution of scoring throughout the roster if the Sparks want to bring this series back to Minny and hope that they can advance to their first Finals in 10 years.

Enjoy this afternoon's game!
