Cat Wells officially removed from Toledo's basketball team

After suspending Cat Wells in September, the Toledo Rockets have officially removed her from the basketball team.

Early in September incoming freshman guard Cat Wells was suspended indefinitely by Toledo. After being suspended for violation of team rules, Wells was given an "olive branch" -- a list of requirements to be fully reinstated.

But yesterday, Toledo officially released Wells.

Toledo head coach Tricia Cullop released a short statement in conjunction with the announcement of the freshman's release.

"Cat has been released officially from our team," Cullop said of the 5'4" Ohio native. "I wish her nothing but the best in the future."

Although there's no word yet about what Wells' next destination might be, Steve Junga of the Toledo Blade reported in May 2011 that Wells had also been recruited by Bowling Green, Xavier, Washington State, Florida State and Western Illinois prior to committing to Cullop and the Rockets.
