Michigan State Upsets #18/19 Penn State

After being on a three-game losing streak, Michigan State was able to bounce back today with an important win in upsetting #18/19 Penn State, 83-77. Defense was one of the factors in this game as Michigan State was able to limit the productivity of Penn State star, Alex Bentley. Bentley, who is Penn State's second leading scorer only had 8 points on 3-11 (27%) shooting. Also Michigan State head coach Suzy Merchant's move to insert Porche' Poole into the starting lineup paid immediate dividends. Poole had her best game as a Spartan with a career-high 32 points. Also contributing for Michigan State was Lykendra Johnson who had a double double with 16 points and a game-high 12 rebounds. Kiana Johnson also had 12 points for the Spartans. Penn State was led by Maggie Lucas who had a team-high 21 points, Mia Nickson who had 18 points and Nikki Greene had 10 points.
