New York Liberty's Kia Vaughn Named Most Improved Player

Kia Vaughn's career-high averages in points, rebounds, steals, assists and shooting percentage helped propel her to the top of the 2011 Most Improved Player voting. Vaughn garnered 15 of the 40 panel votes from local and national sportswriters and broadcasters. She is the second straight Liberty player to receive the award, following Leilani Mitchell's 2010 selection. Knotted in second in the voting were Washington's Matee Ajavon and Tulsa's Tiffany Jackson, with 10 votes each. Despite poor season's from their respective teams, both women worked hard to insert themselves as effective team leaders. Also receiving votes were Ashley Robinson (3), Armintie Price (1) and Epiphanny Prince (1).
