Alysha Clark's 2011 WNBA Training Camp Journal: San Antonio Ends Week One With An Up-tempo Practice

After being released from the San Antonio Silver Stars last year, former Middle Tennessee State forward Alysha Clark (@Alysha_Clark) is back in training camp for a second shot at making the roster. She has offered to provide us first-hand insight about her experience with a training camp journal. Today she checks in after taking a day off to rest up before Week 2.

Day 6:

Friday was a lot like Thursday. It was a very up-tempo day. It started with our individual workouts where we got a lot of shots up. Each session is about 20 minutes long. Then we had weights right after. When we did our physicals we did a test with the physical therapists that tested our strong and weak points on our body. So once they completed our profiles they gave our trainer and strength coach some corrective exercises to do. Friday we started some of those, and they were no joke!

Practice consisted of much of the same stuff from Thursday. We did 5-0 breakdowns of the offense; we played 5 on 5 and converted twice from drills; we had shooting competitions; and then we played a couple of 7 minute games.

At the end we had to make 10/12 from the free throw line or we had suicides - we made 12/12 haha. We really didn't want to run any extra haha.

After practice I got in some extra cardio and then had to get my calf worked out. That is one massage I hate to get! It hurts so badly!! But I can say today I feel better :-)

For dinner me and 2 of the girls went down by the river walk to eat at this really good Mexican restaurant called Mi Tierra! I love Mexican so I was SO excited to finally go and eat some! It was great!

Yesterday we had off so I took advantage of sleeping in! Haha. I didn't get up until after 12:00! I plan to just rest and relax all day and get ready for this next week.

I want to ask all of you reading this to send positive vibes and prayers for Jayne Appel* to have a healthy and speedy recovery :-)

Until next time,

Alysha

*Appel had arthroscopic knee surgery on Friday and will miss four weeks according to the San Antonio Express.
