After being released from the San Antonio Silver Stars last year, former Middle Tennessee State forward Alysha Clark (@Alysha_Clark) is back in training camp for a second shot at making the roster. She has offered to provide us first-hand insight about her experience with a training camp journal. Today she checks in about days three and four, including media day.

Day 3:

Well today was definitely harder than the first two days! But in a good way! We got the chance to get up and down the floor more and play some 5-on-5. We ran a lot of 5-on-0 so we could work on the different options in our offenses and get better timing. It was definitely a tempo and execution day. At the end of practice we played a 7 minute game. That was fun because we got to get a glimpse of the pieces we have coming together.

Of course after practice I got in the ice tub, but I talked one of my teammates to get in too! The whole time she just kept saying "Alysha, why did I let you talk me into getting in here??" I told her she'll be thanking me tomorrow because she'll feel great!

I always think day 3 is the hardest because all the soreness from the first two days has really set in, and you have to really be mentally tough and push through it. I felt good today! This is the best my body has felt in a while :-) I think it's because I changed my eating habits some!

For dinner, the team met at Big Lou's pizza. If some of you have seen the show "Man vs. Food" than you might know what I'm talking about. We got the 42 inch pizza, yes you read that correctly, for $81.99 and you get up to 4 toppings on it! It was SO good! Unfortunately we couldn't finish the whole thing, we left 8 pieces. So like I said earlier, I think it's my new eating habits that have me feeling so good, haha. If you have twitter, you can see the pictures on my twitter account @Alysha_Clark.

Day 4:

Today was media day!! We all got glammed up to step in front of the cameras and show our non-basketball look. Everyone looked great today! It was fun and relatively short. We took action shots, did some videos for the jumbotron and had some interviews. The hardest part of today was filling out the player questionnaire, haha. You would think it would be easy, but you don't really sit around and think about your favorite vacation spot, favorite car, or other favorite things. But it was a fun morning!

After media day was done we got dressed for practice and watched film from practice yesterday. Coach (Dan Hughes) just wanted to give us the opportunity early on to see some of the things he liked, but more importantly see the things we could correct individually and as a team. I hate to watch myself on film, but it's great to do it because you can ACTUALLY see what you look like instead of what you THINK you look like.

We went to the court and did some static stretching and then coach introduced some new offensive calls, sideline plays, baseline plays and press offense. So today was definitely a learning day.

Even though it was a light day, I still got in the ice tub so I can be ready for these next two days. We're going to be doing a lot of running and I need my legs at their best! Oh, and my teammate told me today during warm-ups that she doesn't feel better haha. I think she was just telling lies!

Well I'm about to go get some sushi and watch the game with some of the girls! :-)

Until next time,

Alysha
