Alysha Clark's 2011 WNBA Training Camp Journal: Preparing For Silver Stars Training Camp

Swish Appeal had the opportunity for an exclusive interview with former Middle Tennessee State forward Alysha Clark prior to being selected in the 2010 WNBA Draft by the San Antonio Silver Stars to discuss her successful college career and the doubts about her ability. After being released from the Silver Stars last year, Clark is back in San Antonio for training camp this season for another shot at making the roster and has offered to provide us first-hand insight about her experience with a training camp journal. Her first entry was originally sent in on Saturday.

Greetings from San Antonio!

These last 48 hours have been a whirlwind! Very exciting to say the least! I found out Thursday afternoon that I was leaving for training camp on Friday. I had NOTHING ready! So of course I went into immediate panic mode! I had a workout to still do before I could get home and start my laundry and start packing. I packed all of my stuff in ONE bag! A big bag, but that's still an accomplishment considering last year I had 3 1/2 bags haha.

Friday I flew in and went to the facility so I could get my apartment and car keys. They weren't ready when we got there, so I just hung out and played on my phone. I was there so long that I had an impromptu workout with some of the girls. It was good to get a little taste of what is to come on Sunday! After I got settled, I went to dinner with two of the rookies (Haha it sounds so funny for me to say that) Danielle Robinson and Porsha Phillips to Longhorn Steakhouse. When I say we smashed our food, we SMASHED our food! It was so good!

Saturday was a pretty relaxing day. We had our physicals in the morning and then had the rest of the day to ourselves. It was so pretty outside that I wanted to go out and do something! Instead I soaked in epsom salt and took a nap! Haha. I left my apartment one time and that was to go to the store for dinner.

As I get ready for bed I can't help but be excited about the opportunity that is in front of me! I am more confident in myself than I was this time last year, but I still know I have a long way to go. I just continue to pray and give it my all!!

Until next time,
Alysha Clark
