Time to Dance: Baylor, Big XII

Who? The Lady Bears of Baylor.

What? A bear named Bruiser. For some events, Baylor also has live bears, named after notables from the school's history and board.

Where? Waco, Texas.

When? March 12th, in Kansas City, Missouri.

Why? Because they won the Big XII conference tournament.

How? 31 points (and eight rebounds, and seven blocks) from Brittney Griner powered Baylor past an 12-0 hole shot by Texas A&M, 61-58.

Surprise? Ahahahahahaha no. They only lost twice all season and once was to UConn. Barely.

Who's driving this thing, anyway? Kim Mulkey, since 2000. Hard to imagine her now with the long braid she wore in her playing days.

RPI: 4

SOS: 3

Record: 31-2 (15-1)

Best win: Tennessee (H)

Worst loss: Texas Tech (A)

Notable results: Connecticut (L, A, 65-64), Notre Dame (W, H, 76-65), Oklahoma (H, A)

So, Baylor has this really tall center... sophomore Brittney Griner averages 22.6 points and 7.8 rebounds per game- oh, and over four blocks per game. Yes, that's an average. No, that is not a typo. She's also gone to the line an eye-popping 268 times. Senior guard Melissa Jones keeps the motor running for an offense that averages 80 points per game. Freshman guard Odyssey Sims is getting sizzling hot at the right time. And I haven't even brought up Destiny Williams... this team is heavily loaded and extremely talented.
