- Curt Rallo of the South Bend Tribune reports on Notre Dame's 81-61 victory over Akron on Friday night. As the headline states, they forced 46 turnovers but that was tempered by 27 of their own and general offensive struggles. Read more >>>
- The Seattle University Redhawks also got off to a good start in coach Joan Bonvicini's quest to earn the program's first NCAA postseason bid with a hard-fought 60-55 win on Friday night. - Scott Johnson of the Kitsap Sun sums up an unfortunately all-too-familiar scene over the last few years in Seattle: a smaller squad coming into Hec Edmundson Pavilion and getting a win against the Washington Huskies.This time that squad was UC Davis who also spoiled coach Kevin McGuff's first game in Seattle on Friday. - The Buckeye Battle Cry has a thorough preview of Ohio State's season in advance of their season opener today against Tennessee State. The relatively young team is led by senior point guard Samantha Prahalis, who could help lead a faster attack than usual with Jantel Lavender having graduated. Read more >>>
- SBN's USC site Conquest Chronicles has a brief report on the Trojans' 65-57 win against the Fresno State Bulldogs on Friday night. TheViewFromFigueroa noted the team's overall speed as one of their greatest assets and that definitely shows up in the boxscore in getting 10 steals and only allowing five free throw attempts.
