Prochaska continues "all-out assault" on the record books

4

Earlier today, BGSU senior Lauren Prochaska shot 8-8 from the free throw line, setting a new MAC record by hitting her 61st consecutive free throw. Her game-high 21 points marks the 100th time in 111 games that she has scored double digits. We here at Swish Appeal have seen her a combined three games this season and we're becoming fans. Here's why: Last Friday in a 56-47 win over UALR, Prochaska was cold from the field but shot 15-for-15 from the free throw line to help her finish with a double-double of 23 points and 10 rebounds. In the next game against Seattle University, she was again cold from the field but played the passing lanes like a defensive back and finished with a number of deflections, 2 steals, and 2 blocks. And on Wednesday in a 79-68 upset over #23 Vanderbilt, she dropped 31 points on 8-16 shooting, 10-10 free throw shooting, 5-9 from the three point line, and 6 assist to 0 turnovers. She's helped her team win from the line, from the three point line, as a distributor and as a defender. She's not just the scorer she's reputed for being - she's a well-rounded player who has found a way to make positive things happen even when she's not taking a lot of shots. And that's impressive. Or rather, we're impressed.
