Roll Call: A Quest To Smash The 90-9-1 Lurker Rule To Smithereens At Swish Appeal

It's been said that there is a "90-9-1" rule that is loosely followed on the internet. In that scenario, 1% of the people online are actually creating content. 9% are editing said content, and 90% (yes, 90%!!) are lurking. That must mean our community here at Swish Appeal is in the gazillions and I personally would like to hear from all gazillion of you!

Lurker = "someone waiting in concealment"

Why the heck would you have the desire to stay concealed? That's no fun for us and it makes it awfully difficult to build an active, intelligent and inspired by basketball community without ... well ... community members. So, to the 90% - it's time. Stop playing hide and seek and let us know you're here!

Minnesota Lynx 80, NY Liberty 62: Stats Analysis & Notes

NEWARK, NJ - The Minnesota Lynx defeated the New York Liberty handily by an 80-62 score on Tuesday. The numbers, as expected, were not pretty and basically bear out coach John Whisenant's assessment that, "we have a lot of work to do."

Wednesday WNBA Links: An Exciting Finish In Tulsa & Familiar Struggles For The Storm

If you can't see a game, you sort of hope that it's not exciting so you didn't miss anything.

Unfortunately, that wasn't the case last night in Tulsa - with WNBA LiveAccess experiencing some technical difficulties, the Tulsa Shock and Phoenix Mercury went down to the wire. Surely, thewiz06 wasn't the only one who thought that he wanted his $5 back.

Thankfully, there is video of what transpired.

  • Tulsa's News On 6 posted video of the Tulsa Shock's apparently exciting 89-87 loss to the Phoenix Mercury last night. Scholanda Dorrell last second basket to send the game to overtime was waived off after the officials ruled that it came after the buzzer. That would've been a fun one to watch. Read more >>>
  • Mike Brown of the Tulsa World adds a little detail about the Shock's loss writing that, "One official ruled the basket good, but after consulting the game monitors, the three-person crew ruled it off and Tulsa had its second loss in 2012." Dorrell was obviously disappointed with the outcome but also felt the Shock could have done things to avoid the game being determined by video technology. Read more >>>
  • Troy Littledeer has shared some of his photos from the Shock's loss last night as well as their home opener against the San Antonio Silver Stars. View here >>>

Lynx Prey On Liberty

Just the Facts, Ma'am: The Minnesota Lynx wore out the New York Liberty over the course of the game, taking a 80-62 win on the road. Seimone Augustus led all scorers with 22 points, while Taj McWilliams-Franklin notched a double-double (10 points, 11 rebounds). Cappie Pondexter led New York with 15 points; Essence Carson added 13 off the bench as the only other Liberty player in double figures.

For a lost and found in a border town, the passing of the hat, things that should have been, five chances without a basket, and a startling lack of sense from Stanford alumnae, join your intrepid and adrift blogger after the jump.

How Far Can The Phoenix Mercury Go Without Penny Taylor?

It's hard to ever count out a team with Diana Taurasi on it, but do the Phoenix Mercury have enough to make another playoff run without Penny Taylor? (Photo by Christian Petersen/Getty Images)

We know that the Phoenix Mercury will be better than they were on Sunday in their 105-83 loss to the Minnesota Lynx on Sunday.

2011 WNBA scoring leader Diana Taurasi was out with a hip flexor and with both Temeka Johnson and Ketia Swanier having departed this offseason, they were starting rookie Samantha Prahalis at point guard. With Taurasi expected to be back as soon as tonight for the Mercury's game against the Tulsa Shock and the expectation that Prahalis will become more comfortable with the WNBA game come playoff time, it's likely this team will look much stronger by playoff time.

Nevertheless, the big question for the Mercury this season is how far can they go without injured forward Penny Taylor?
