Liberty coach Bill Laimbeer spent a good part of pre-game warmups passing to Tina Charles on the blocks. Charles would then work on a post move. Little surprise the Liberty's first offensive call was a post up, but by Essence Carson. The Liberty scored all four of their field goals in the paint with Charles finishing on two occasions.
Rookie Kayla McBride, a Notre Dame product and 11.7 per game scorer, showed no 'Garden jitters' burying a three on San Antonio's first possession.
San Antonio (3-4) entered with a 96 offensive efficiency and a 'generous' 103 on the defensive end.
