On Monday, April 28, the Washington Mystics held their media day.
Here is a link from Monumental Network which shows some pictures of the players taking... selfies? Here's Monique Currie's pic below:
Because the players were apparently taking selfies, I just pray, and I mean pray to God that they don't play one particular song at all ... click here at your own risk. I had to listen to that song during a timeout at Friday's Wizards playoff game:
It was so ratchet...
And here's a video of the Washington Wiggle from the new Dancer-in-residence of the team:
Ben Standig of CSN Washington also had a chance to get General Manager and Head Coach Mike Thibault's thoughts on the team this season:
If it was an 82 game season [like in the NBA,] I wouldn't be as nervous. We're going to be really young," Thibault said. We're going to be one of two or three youngest teams in the league. In a 34 game season, you don't have a lot of room for error.
We knew what we were getting in for when we made the changes. It's a long-term plan as much as a short-term plan.
Sounds a lot like what we have said about Tayler Hill and her progress last season. Also, Gene Wang of the Washington Post has more thoughts from Media Day and click here for that piece.
Lastly, Mystics owner Ted Leonsis appears excited about this season too, and the fact that both Stefanie Dolson and Hartley will be in D.C. this season. Click here to read it.
I'm liking the youth on this roster and the frontcourt will certainly be that way this season. The backcourt rotation still appears to be veteran-laden, but a Kara Lawson-Ivory Latta backcourt will be exciting to watch.
