2014 WNBA Draft - Round 1, Pick 4: The New York Liberty select Maryland's Alyssa Thomas

Jamie Rhodes-USA TODAY Sports

As the AP reported, Thomas may be on the move quickly.

As part of a blockbuster trade earlier this evening, the New York Liberty have drafted Alyssa Thomas and will reportedly send her rights to the Connecticut Sun.

We'll have more analysis on the move itself after the draft, but Thomas gives Connecticut another piece to form what's shaping up to be a great young core along with top pick Chiney Ogwumike and 2013 All-Rookie selections Alex Bentley and Kelsey Bone.

Wows: Her rebounding ability at her size and position almost guarantees that she'll be successful in the pros. When you combine that with her ability to score efficiently around the rim and handle the ball to create for others, you have a potential All-Star in the making at best.

Wonders: How quickly can Thomas develop a jumper?

Worries: Obviously, Thomas' jumper is a major area of concern and even if she is able to work on that over time, it's perfect reasonable to wonder how efficiently she'll score against pro competition in her rookie season if defenses sag off of her. She does so much else well to help her team win that it's probably not as big a concern as some make it out to be, but it's the one thing that keeps her from being rated even higher in this draft.
