Who? The Vandals of Idaho.

What? Their basketball team "vandalized" opponents. Joe was a yell leader's idea.

Where? Moscow, Idaho, which may have been named by fiat.

When? March 15th, in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Why? They won the Western Athletic conference tournament.

How? Stacey Barr went the full 40 and poured in 28 points, and the Vandals beat Seattle 75-67.

Surprise? Predicted to finish second in the conference, they ended up in first.

RPI: 99

SOS: 227

Record: 25-8 (15-1 WAC)

Good wins: At Nevada.

Bad losses: Cal State Bakersfield.

Who's driving this thing? Jon Newlee, since 2008. Why would anyone leave a job in Hawai'i, even for a head coaching job? It's Hawai'i!

Extra, Extra! The Moscow-Pullman Daily News.
