In a glowing account of Baylor's Odyssey Sims after a record-setting performance against West Virginia, Dave Hickman of The Charleston Gazette made a lofty claim.
Note to the uninitiated regarding women's college basketball: Baylor is pretty good. Really good, in fact. The Bears have been to three Final Fours and won two national championships within the last decade.
And as good as Brittney Griner was for Baylor last year, Sims is a better player. Don't let the fact that she's not 6-foot-8 fool you.
Hickman isn't the first to make this claim and isn't just suffering from recency bias: even as Griner's mere presence on the floor often dominated games last season, Sims looked like the better basketball player on more than one occasion (not the least of which was her effort in their upset loss against Louisville in the tournament).
I will say no more, but you can give your input in the comments and poll below.
